Data-driven Strategies to Guide the Implementation of Trauma-Informed Approaches by Stacy Overstreet

Stacy Overstreet, PhD., will be discussing Data-driven Strategies to Guide the Implementation of Trauma-Informed Approaches at the Resilience Summit, November 2-3 in Chicago.

Abstract:
Successful implementation of trauma-informed schools must build consensus for trauma-informed approaches and establish organizational capacity for and commitment to such approaches. The presentation will describe the implementation and impact of professional development training on teacher attitudes toward trauma-informed approaches in schools.  In addition, strategies used to assess organizational readiness for trauma-informed approaches and create trauma-informed action plans to guide implementation will be shared.

Objectives:
1.     Participants will be able to identify critical professional development content to ensure that all school personnel realize the impact of trauma, recognize the need for trauma-informed care, and understand the resources needed to create a trauma-informed school.

2.    Participants will learn strategies to assess the acceptability and impact of the professional development training.

3.    Participants will become familiar with tools for system-level assessment and planning for trauma-informed schools.
