2023 COMMITMENTS TO ROAR

EVERY stakeholder is encouraged and invited to COMPLETE the 2023 Commitments Document. This will help the steering committee begin to identify how and when we can best coordinate our grassroots efforts to spread resilience education and awareness everywhere.

Mission: To educate, connect and empower the people of Robeson County by increasing awareness and understanding of Adverse Childhood and Community Experiences and teaching skills for building resilience.

Vision: That every person in Robeson County will have the tools they need to recognize, process and overcome their own adversities and that individual, familial and community resilience will thrive.

COMPLETE THIS SURVEY!!!

EVERY ROAR stakeholder is encouraged and invited to COMPLETE the 2023 Coalition Survey that has been recently released by the Healthy and Resilient Communities Initiative as a requirement for our recently awarded grant. DEADLINE: May 1, 2023

This survey will assess your perception as a member of the Coalition about the makeup and experience of participating in our local coalition and reveal the culture that exists within our coalition. SAMHSA (The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency) has outlined 6 main principles to strive towards when creating trauma-informed organizations. They are: Safety, Trustworthiness & Transparency, Peer Support, Collaboration & Mutuality, Empowerment & Choice, and Cultural, Historical & Gender Issues. This survey tool has been developed to measure these 6 main principles.

NOTE: Because the questions were borrowed from valid sources of measure, the language could not be changed despite some instances when a more locally accepted phrasing or word choice could make the questions more relatable and understood. Please just answer the questions based on your personal perception and based on your experience as a participant in ROAR.

Thanks so much, Nicole, for this incredible report on the work you, Stacie Kinlaw, and so many other inspired, knowledgeable, and dedicated people are doing in Robeson County, North Carolina!

We hear you R.O.A.R.!
Wow!

Iā€™ll clone this wonderful post to your free R.O.A.R. Website here on PACEs Connection, as well as to the North Carolina PACEs Connection site, the Healthy Blue Initiative site, as Robeson remains as one of the seven counties involved in the initiative to improve the health and well-being of foster children and families, despite R.O.A.R.ā€™s securing its own funding to join the PACEs Connection Cooperative of Communities this year. WELL DONE, as R.O.A.R.ā€™s self funding means that in addition to the six counties Healthy Blue funds, we now have a total of SEVEN North Carolina counties joining our national, coast-to-coast think tank of Cooperative of Community members.

Our Coop group has benefitted greatly from the input by NC leaders, and we are deeply grateful for your passion and participation.

Thanks for posting this to the home page of PACEs Connection. In doing so, youā€™re showcasing how the 450 or so cross-sector, geographic PACEs Connection communities can work, and how they can use the heck out of PACEs Connection ā€” our free websites, community building tools in our Growing Resilient Communities app, our Creating Resilient Communities (CRC) Accelerator Courses (which just started up again, so please ask new members of R.O.A.R. to sign up for the free, 16-hour certification course, which teaches invaluable PACEs science information (physical and emotional impact of trauma; vital importance of prevention, among other key learnings) as well as specifics on creating trauma informed schools, creating community partnerships, starting and maintaining criminal justice initiatives and more!).

The more members of each community who take these courses ā€” some or all of them ā€” the better, as having common learnings, language, and experiences strengthen any community.

Youā€™ve made my Saturday (Iā€™m just now reading this) with your post, and I would imagine our new CRC director, Kahshanna Evans, will be thrilled to see your post and this reply, as well.

Keep up the great work, and I will see you and others from Robeson County, and members from Resilient Bladen County and Resilient Columbus County ā€” sister HBI initiative counties in your region ā€”on 10.4.23 for your resiliency conference.

Peace, and thank you!

Carey
