Writing with a Trauma-informed Lens

Trauma-informed writing. I'd been writing this way for years, but I'd never really talked about the lens, what it was, or how I use. My trauma-informed training in the professional space was certainly benefitting my personal writing, but I was a member of two writing groups and a writing guild - a network of over a thousand writers combined. "Have they considered trauma-informed writing? Do they know what it means?" I pitched the question to my writing coach. Her response was much like her personality - curious, warm, receptive.

She invited me to sit down for a podcast interview about the trauma-informed approach to writing. It was a fantastic conversation, and the podcast episode has opened the door to further conversation from writers across platforms. You can check out the podcast here!

Curious to know more about trauma-informed writing, or know a communication professional who would benefit from a trauma-informed lens before they publish their message? Beyond Awareness: A Trauma-informed Approach to Writing might be the answer.

May we all offer hope and healing through compassionate and careful words.
