Wisconsin legislature recognizes that when stress becomes toxic, children suffer the most

Earlier this month, the state Assembly passed a resolution authored by state Sen. Julie Lassa, D-Stevens Point, that recognizes the profound importance of early brain development to a child’s future success. The state Senate had passed the same “toxic stress” resolution last fall. In both houses, it passed unanimously.

A resolution is good; the state Legislature, to a person, is now on the record accepting the destructive effects of toxic stress and promising to “note the role of early intervention and investment in early childhood years.”
