Who are we? What's our interest in ACEs? Part 48

Laura Smith, Debra Leschyn, Wendy Holman and Kat Duff joined ACEs Connection in June. Here's some info about each, and a link to their profile pages, where you can friend them, send a message, and see all their comments and activity on the network.

Laura Smith, Carnation, WA -- Laura is executive director of the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network

Debra Leschyn, Belmont, CA -- Debra teaches U.S. history and economics and government in combined SDC/RSP classes for 11th grade students at Oak Grove High School in San Jose, California. Many of her students come from high-stress homes with exposure to violence, which interferes with their learning.

Wendy Holman, Seattle, WA -- Wendy manages Seattle's Human Services Family Center Program. She's interested in following how ACE research links with asset building or resiliency to support families.

Kat Duff, Rancho de Taos, NM -- For the last 14 years, Kat has been a child forensic interviewer. She works with law enforcement and social services in child abuse investigations in the rural counties of northeastern New Mexico. She notes that she feels honored to be able to help kids tell the truth about their lives, and is frustrated that our society so often makes kids pay the price for the crimes committed against them. She's author of The Alchemy of Illness, published by Pantheon in 1993.
