Welcome Jennifer Hossler, the newest member of the ACEs Connection Network team

Please welcome Jennifer Hossler, who is the new community facilitator for the Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities (MARC) Project for the ACEs Connection Network. A social worker by trade and a humanitarian at heart, Jennifer has 18 years of experience working with traumatized children and families in a variety of settings. She spent the majority of her career working as a child welfare worker in Minnesota and California.

A Minnesota native (and a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan who is very sad today), Jennifer relocated to San Diego to pursue a master’s degree in social work…and in search of warmer weather. As a child welfare consultant at The Chadwick Center for Children & Families at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego for the last three years, Jennifer has worked with five child welfare jurisdictions across the country as they integrate trauma-informed practices into their organizations.

The MARC project was launched in November 2015 by The Health Federation of Philadelphia, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The California Endowment. It will foster solutions to prevent adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in families, organizations, systems and communities.

As community facilitator for the MARC project, Jennifer will divide her time between her duties at The Chadwick Center and working with the 14 communities across the U.S. selected to participate in MARC as they work to build resilience and address childhood trauma using ACEs science, language, and data.

Jennifer believes that a deep understanding of ACEs and the implementation of trauma-informed practices go hand-in-hand. With an ACE score of 4, she credits her love of yoga, music, and living life to the fullest as significant factors in her healing journey.

The following is a list of the MARC communities, their networks and backbone organizations:
  • ALASKA — Alaska Resilience Initiative (Alaska Children's Trust)
  • ALBANY, NY — The HEARTS Initiative for ACE Response (University at Albany Foundation)
