WE SHALL OVERCOME

The actions that took place on the afternoon of January 6, 2021 will be etched in the minds of many for years to come.  Who would have thought storming the Nation's Capital Building would actually become a horrific reality.  For those of us who lived through the 50's and 60's, the flashback of those unforgettable moments in time were daunting.  In the midst of a pandemic where many are unemployed, and having to do much with very little this was the last thing one could expect.  However, in the midst of one crisis after another we shall overcome.  How one might ask?  How do I respond to the questions my children ask me?  How do I respond to the questions I ask myself?  You tell the truth.  You remain truthful to yourself, and those around you.  Communicate with a trusted person or persons your struggles, issues, and life challenges.  Reach out and establish a support system to help you run this race called life.  Remember, the actions of others do not define you.  In the midst of the madness, focus on still remaining hopeful for a better today and tomorrow.  Remain confident this too shall pass.  Start today practicing self-compassion so you can be compassionate to others.  Remember, we shall overcome.
