Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health is pleased to have recently launched a comprehensive, web-based COVID-19 resource library that houses dozens of fact sheets, social media messages, videos, radio scripts, and podcasts for use by Native American communities. The materials cover topics ranging from mental health, testing, vaccines, family well-being, to supportive isolation. Linked below are examples of newly posted resources.

Resources for Tribal Leaders
As part of the Resource Library, the Center has created resources with and for tribal communities to aid in the prevention of COVID-19 and strengthen community capacity to address the pandemic. These evidence-informed solutions can be adapted to local contexts and are available free of charge. There are 9 different types of materials, including a tool to guide local COVID Data Interpretation which helps tribal health leaders monitor trends in cases, hospitalizations, deaths and testing, and use it to inform tribal council decision-making on COVID-related restrictions. Respecting the Circle of Life program available in digital format
The Center for American Indian Health is now disseminating its pregnancy, STD and HIV prevention program for youth, called Respecting the Circle of Life (RCL), through ETR, a nonprofit organization that helps distribute proven solutions to promote community health. RCL gives young people the knowledge and skills they need to protect themselves from unplanned pregnancy and STDs, and promote reproductive health over the lifespan. Tribal communities can purchase a digital subscription through ETR’s catalog. The subscription includes an evidence-based, self-paced training for program facilitators to learn how to implement the RCL program. Additional resources include links to technical assistance and an implementation guide that includes recruitment materials and a month-by-month planning tool.
New grant from Walmart Foundation to address vaccine equity
The Center for American Indian Health is grateful to have recently received $500,000 in support from the Walmart Foundation through the Walmart.org Center for Racial Equity to increase education, outreach and awareness about COVID-19 vaccines among Native Americans in rural and urban communities across the U.S.
The project will be guided by the Center’s National Tribal Advisory Board and will help us build and share communication tools, policy guidance and solutions to structural barriers to vaccine equity and acceptance among Native peoples.
