Support groups help victims with trauma of sex assault - Wisconsin

"To help, CARE House is offering support groups that begin later this month.

"One group will be for girls ages 6 to 11 who have experienced sexual abuse and need help coping with the trauma. Another will be for girls ages 12 to 15. At the same times, groups for non-offending parents and caregivers will provide education, information and peer support.

"The groups are not substitutes for counseling and therapy, but organizers say they can be valuable resources in the healing process.

"We're not going to make people talk about what happened to them, unless they want to," Wroblewski said. "We're not here to make anyone uncomfortable. For the girls, knowing that they are not alone can be helpful."...
