Suicide Crisis: PTSD Won't Wait - United Kingdom

"The waiting times for talking therapies are a cause for concern in Gloucestershire.
"There are two main routes to psychological therapy within Gloucestershire -  the IAPT Let's Talk service and the Psychological Therapies Service (PTS).

"The IAPT (Improved Access To Psychological Therapies) service, as the  name suggests, aims to see patients reasonably quickly, usually within  weeks.

"However the PTS has a very long waiting list - at least 8 months. We are told  that the wait is currently longer than that.

"We remain profoundly concerned about the waiting times for people who are  trying to access psychological therapy via PTS.

"NICE guidelines are very clear - psychological therapy is recommended.

"The recent BBC Panorama programme about PTSD ("Broken In Battle") revealed  that in 2012 more soldiers and veterans took their own lives than died  fighting in Afghanistan in the same period...."
