Striking a Nerve: Do SSRI Doses Affect Suicide Risk?

By the time you read this, there's a good chance you will have seen articles in consumer media saying that high antidepressant doses in teens and young adults increase their risk of suicide. Watch out, it's not that simple.

The study on which those articles would be based is actually a pretty good one. Conducted by Matthew Miller, MD, ScD, of the Harvard School of Public Health, and colleagues and published in JAMA Internal Medicine, it analyzed insurance claims data on more than 162,000 children and adults up to age 64 -- data that included more than the usual clinical detail on these individuals
