Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce event displays proposals on reversing childhood poverty, abuse - Missouri

"The Every Child Promise started a year ago as a way to stem the tide of poverty, abuse and neglect, poor health and nutrition, and inadequate school readiness in children.

"This month, dozens of “game-changing” recommendations emerged from five committees: early child care, early childhood education, safety and security, food and nutrition, and health. About 150 volunteers from the business, faith, education, nonprofit and other community sectors developed those ideas in September and October.

"Ideas include immediately feeding children through neighborhood food centers, providing tuition assistance for early child care, providing screenings and assistance for young parents, training more child care workers on spotting abuse and neglect, and creating a clearinghouse and referral center for quality child care and early childhood education...."
