Smile At Your Baby!'s letter to hometown Mayor. Feel free to borrow and use as a template.

Honorable Mayor Johnson:

As the Founder and Executive Director of Smile At Your Baby!, and as an active member of theACEsConnection.com, I respectfully urge the City of Pullman to research and implement adverse childhood experiences prevention and resiliency.

More about this movement based on solid and irrefutable research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control can be found at: www.ACEsTooHigh.com and www.ACEsConnection.com.

The following link will take you to a comprehensive report written for the City of Spokane, WA.   http://acestoohigh.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/complextraumareport.pdf
Further, I would explore the possibility of implementing ACEs prevention through the use of Smile At Your Baby!'s BABY BIT program. This program can help to prevent adverse childhood experiences by educating parents on what it means to bond with baby, why it's so critically important and precisely how to do it by coaching parents on a daily basis via text message.  Through literature dissemination, promotion on the City of Pullman's website, through public speaking, and other avenues, citizens of Pullman can learn about the BABY BIT program and make the choice to subscribe or not. The program is free to subscribers.  More on the BABY BIT program can be found here:www.SmileAtYourBaby.org/free_baby_bits.
One city that is already actively working on implementing ACEs resiliency is Tarpon Springs, FL.  Details on their program can be found here: www.peace4tarpon.org/

If I can answer any questions or be of any assistance concerning this suggestion, I am happy to be of service.

In peace,
