Seeking Volunteer Evaluators for the Spring/Summer 2022 Request for Proposals (RFPs)

Greetings,
The Chicago Department of Public Health, Office of Violence Prevention and Behavioral Health (OVPBH) is seeking volunteer evaluators for upcoming (Spring/Summer 2022) Request for Proposal (RFP) opportunities where we call for proposals from organizations to fund their violence prevention initiatives.
Our team-based approach ensures that all RFP applications are thoughtfully considered using a transparent scoring criterion.  All potential evaluators will be screened for conflicts of interest and, if selected, they will receive orientation on the application scoring process.  Following the orientation, evaluators will be assigned a shortlist of applications (approximately 4 to 5) to review depending on the number of applicants. The each application review takes approximately 60-120 minutes.
Who can be an evaluator?  This opportunity is available for adults who understand the needs of local communities and/or are familiar with violence prevention strategies and programs.

What experience or education is needed? No previous experience, specific education background, or expertise is needed. The review process will utilize the following skills: a) able to analyze grant applications effectively against specific criteria, b) be able to clearly express their evaluations in writing, and c) be interested in contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Behavioral Health & Violence Prevention.
Are there any residency requirements? All are welcomed to apply, but priority will be given to those residing in Chicago and/or Cook County.
