Say No to Child labor!!!

About 3.3 million of Pakistani children are trapped in child labor, depriving them of their childhood, their health and education, and condemning them to a life of poverty and want.

Children Lifeline Trust was established with the philosophy that every child deserves the chance to transform their lives through an education, regardless of their ability to afford it.

8-year-old Omar and 7 year old Hafeez wakes up diligently every morning and rush to start small jobs to earn some money and bring breakfast for the family.

Omar polishing the shoe for the people who are going to offices in the morning and Hafeez cleaning the cars and selling cloth for cleaning the car on traffic signals.

With limited sources we planned to contact the parents and the parents were approached. During the conversation, parents reported that pulling out our children from school was a need. The counselling modes were used in person and the parents were informed that child labor is dangerous and could leads to a child abuse and could harm their health and also leads to any incident/trauma. Omar and Hafeez are going to school with determination and keeping dreams that they will get success in life with education.

Child labor refers to the employment or work performed by children under a certain age, typically below the legal minimum age for work or the age at which compulsory education ends.

Additionally, awareness campaigns and community mobilization have emphasized the importance of education, leading to a change in societal attitudes toward child labor in Pakistan.

Hi Sajjad:  Your article highlighted a harsh reality for so many children living in third world countries where policies are not in place to protect them.

Have you heard of The Citizens Foundation in Pakistan?  They have had some real hard core successes with using education to change the trajectory of the lives on these children providing real tangible skills they can use.
