After the earthquake in Turkey, Syria earthquake the death toll surpasses around 40,000 and more than 70 million children effected according to the UN report. The Safety precautionary measures during an earthquake is highly important for everyone.
a) Drop under heavy furniture such a table, desk, bed or any solid furniture.
b) Cover your head and torso to prevent being hit by falling objects.
c) Hold on the objects that you are under so that you remain covered. Be prepared to move with the object until the shaking has finished.
d)If you cannot get under some thing strong, or if you are in a hall way,flatten yourself or crouch against an interior wall and protect your head and neck with arms.
e) Stay away from windows and shelves with heavy objects.
IF YOU ARE OUTDOOR DURING AN EARTHQUAKE.
a) Go to an open area and keep yourself away from buildings.
b) Immediately shut off main gas valve.
c) Immediately shut off main power source.
d) Put-off fire.
e) Rescue visible injured.
IF YOU ARE INSIDE A MOVING VEHICLE
a) Pull over to a safe place.
b) Stop the car and stay inside of vehicle.
c) Don't attempt to get out of your car if downed power lines are across it.
AVOID THE FOLLOWING IN AN EARTHQUAKE
a) Stay calm.
b) Door may slam shut and cause injuries.
c) Windows, book cases, tall furniture and light fixture should be avoided.
d) Elevator. If you are in an elevator, hit the button for the near floor and escape ASAP. Moreover, don't use an elevator.
e) Downed power line. Stay away 10 meters to avoid injury.
f) Do not light matches/lighters or turn on light switches until you are sure that there are no gas leaks or flammable liquid spilled.
g) organise rescue measures if people or trapped or call for emergency assistance.
