This program is for licensed clinicians with at 5 years of experience and could be used to leverage efforts to improve health equity in communities across the country. Growing evidence reveals that many factors beyond health care—such as education, early childhood experiences, income, housing, and neighborhood conditions—influence health and the outcomes of health care. Growing evidence reveals that many factors beyond health care—such as education, early childhood experiences, income, housing, and neighborhood conditions—influence health and the outcomes of health care. To address these complexities, we need leaders who are willing to think, work, and collaborate in unconventional ways to take their influence and impact to new levels.
In an effort to extend the influence and impact of leaders working to build a Culture of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has launched a call for applications for four national change leadership programs, open through April 19. The individuals and teams selected for this program will be prepared to translate their work into building healthy communities, influence public opinion and policy, and contribute significantly to achieving a culture of health.
As an organization committed to improve health and the performance of the health system, AcademyHealth is proud to serve as a subcontractor on three of these leadership programs:
- Clinical Scholars: The program will provide intensive learning, collaboration, networking, and coaching to clinicians to create a community of practitioners improving health across the country. The scholars will be comprised of 50 clinically active health care providers who have attained the highest possible degree in their field. Most will work in inter-professional teams of three to five members—for example, nurses, physicians, and pharmacists.
- Health Policy Research Scholars: This program will create strong and diverse leaders through dissertation support, research training, and skill-building in health policy, health equity, and population health. Fifty first- or second-year doctoral students from disadvantaged backgrounds or other populations underrepresented in doctoral programs will participate in leadership development trainings and establish and strengthen professional ties to public health and industry leaders.
- Interdisciplinary Research Leaders:This program will work to create rich engagement opportunities and support to bring evidence-based research into communities. There will be 20 teams of three people, including two researchers: from different disciplines and backgrounds, plus a community member or organization.
- Culture of Health Leaders: This program will provide leadership development for leaders from an array of disciplines including education, public health, technology, government, faith/spiritual, business, health care, economic development, and urban planning.
