Resources on public health approach to trauma and toxic stress

Below are links to some publications that might be of interest.  The first link is to two papers - a research review and an analytic synthesis - that argue for a public health approach to toxic stress and trauma; the second  is to a paper on financing strategies for primary prevention. Two related webinars are also posted.

U.S. Faces Severe Challenges to its Health and Wellbeing

On many measures, our society is now considerably less safe, healthy, and economically productive than other comparable countries. Toxic stress and trauma, especially when coupled with genetic vulnerability, are seriously eroding our public health, social stability, and world leadership.

In two recent papers, we argue that our well-being depends on the well-being of our neighbors as much as our health depends on their health.  Poor health and mental health, poverty, violence and failing schools are no more inevitable than cholera or yellow fever.  Applying our knowledge about the root causes of these problems will lead to improvements in public health and well-being not seen in a century.

Hi Andrea,

I find it kind of sad that your blog has gotten so little press. I watched the three videos and I think at least the first one discussing the Public Health Approach to Toxic Stress and the Third one on Payment sources for Primary Prevention would be great on the main site for videos.

I know that they are really long, but I put long videos there in the past and these are SO good.  Folks who did check them out would learn a lot.  In fact I am going to re-listen to them and take notes next time.  Just a thought.  Thanks

Or could I somehow get the videos to put up on ACEs in Pediatrics site? Thanks
