Rescheduled for Oct 5th! Education Upended: Talking Out of Turn presents: Creating Therapeutic Spaces in Schools

Please join us for our series Education Upended: Talking Out of Turn. This series features a conversation facilitated by Lara Kain, PACEsConnection education consultant, with special guests on education-related current events and hot topics. We will use a trauma-informed and PACEs science-aware lens to examine what's going on K-12 education, what needs changing, and strategies being used in the field to disrupt harmful policies and make positive changes in the system.

October session, Wednesday, October 5th, 12-1:30 pm PST- Join us for our rescheduled session as we discuss "Creating Therapeutic Spaces in Schools" with special guest Dr. Alicia Williams. Ensuring we have trauma-informed environments is an important part of the journey; just wait until you see the rooms she has transformed!

Dr. Alicia Williams is a certified trauma practitioner and trainer, she works as the trauma coordinator, a new position she initiated in the San Juan Unified School District. She provides direct services to staff, students and families regarding concerns related to trauma in addition to providing professional development throughout the district. She is an advocate for staff and student wellness and finds that creating therapeutic environments lends itself to regulation and healing, which she discovered through her own research on student behavior and aesthetically pleasing environments. Alicia has worked in the field of education and social work for over 20 years and she is currently earning a post graduate certificate in neuroscience and trauma. Alicia's primary role, however, is being a "Fire" wife and mom to four children, two dogs and a not so friendly cat!
