Renee Prince, LCSW: Educators as First Responders to the Youth Mental Health Crisis [tfcusa.org]

“The power of relationships is something we can’t forget about. It’s important for teachers to connect with their students more deeply so that they can support them in their academic goals.”

—Renee Prince, LCSW, Director of Mental Health Integration, Turnaround for Children

On the last episode of our podcast, The 180, we discussed the national state of emergency in child and adolescent mental health. In the two years since the pandemic first hit, young people around the world have reported increased symptoms of distress, anxiety, and depression. These feelings can interfere with focus, learning, friendships, and the joys of life.

How can adults take notice when a child is struggling and what can they do to help?

On a new episode out today, we hear from Renee Prince, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and the Director of Mental Health Integration for Turnaround for Children. Renee leverages research and trends in the mental health field to provide leadership on integration across the organization's tools and services, ensuring that they are informed by current clinical knowledge of trauma-informed practices. She also has helped schools build and tailor Tiered Systems of Support to meet the needs of the young people and families they serve.
