Dear ACE Connection Friends,
I wanted to recommend for your consideration a six-hour online Zoom course, “Community Resilience Initiative: Trauma Informed Certification Course” taught by Rick Griffin. I have taken several courses and found CRI’s course unique with its focus on resilience. I have been teaching people and groups about ACE’s for the past three years. I was fortunate to receive training through our local Trauma Champions group in Montcalm County, Michigan and through the Michigan ACE’s Initiative. I’ve noticed that when people begin to be aware of the implications of ACE’s a question always develops; “Now What?” Rick begins to address this question in this course. He has a unique way of being able to put information into some easy to remember phrases that I will refer to in my own learning and teaching. Understanding the neuroscience of the “predicting brain” beyond my understanding of the triune brain was eye opening. Rick’s diagram of The Individual Experience that moves from Love, Trust, and Safety when we encounter a less than nurturing experience was worth my time and money. I completed the course with encouragement and hope in moving this work forward. I am seeing new ways that I might help people and organizations move from being Trauma-Informed to helping build a resilient community.
