Puppies for Parole - Missouri

Puppies for Parole is a program run by the state department of corrections that uses offenders to care for and provide obedience training to dogs which are otherwise slated to be euthanized in animal shelters. The training makes it likelier the dogs will be adopted by someone. The inmates learn compassion and responsibility by caring for the dogs. They have trained more than 750 dogs since the program began in 2010, and have expanded that training to include service dogs for people with disabilities. (video is 5:30)
