"Things are moving in a positive direction at the Child Abuse Intervention Center, according to officials.
"Bay Area Hospital took over the center from the Womens Resource Center in April with plans to change it into an advocacy model instead of a prosecution model. Shorb and Lowry said they’re pleased so far.
"The model has been used all over the country with success, Lowry said. Instead of police officers interviewing children wherever they can, the center plans to have a “one-stop shop” for the kids, Lowry said. At the new center, all entities will be involved, including Lowry, police officers, doctors, mental health professionals and child advocates...."
