Philadelphia Community School hosts parenting event

Recently,  The Philadelphia Community School sponsored a presentation and question and answer by author and therapist Lawrence Cohen, who has written 3 books:  Playful Parenting, The Opposite of Worry, and The Art of Roughhousing.

Dr. Cohen describes the "knot of tension" that develops between children and adults when children feel helpless or unable to manage a situation and the adults want them to do it and their interactions with each other "tighten the knot further". He offers ways to "loosen the knot" through laughter, empathy, play, surprise, unconditional love, and looking at our own behavior and feelings.

It was great to have a community event in Philadelphia, that gives parents and other direct caregivers the chance to ask questions about the tough topics in supporting children.
