"For the past several months, I have worked with colleagues from across the Partners HealthCare System to coordinate the first annual Trauma-Informed Care Conference.
"The idea for the conference came about in January when domestic violence prevention and treatment leaders from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, North Shore Medical Center, Neighborhood Health Plan and Partners Employee Assistance Programs gathered to update each other on our work and explore opportunities for collaboration.
"One message that echoed throughout that meeting was the need for care providers and staff to be better trained at recognizing the symptoms of trauma and acknowledging the role that trauma plays in the life of patients...."
