Partner for Healing: Program for mental health professionals

Hands on headMental health professionals: Do you feel overwhelmed by the demands of your job? Do regulations, paperwork, lack of time and inadequate training get in the way of your providing the excellent treatment you dream of? Do you wish your team was more connected and healthy? Do you find yourself worrying about your clients and your program when you are at home? Do you know that more information exists, but wonder when you would have time to learn it? Are you expected to be able to fix complex problems with little help and fewer resources? Do you sometimes wonder if this was what you signed up for when you committed to help people?

We at the Traumatic Stress Institute are on your side as you do the difficult work of offering hope and healing to survivors of trauma. Through the Partner for Healing program, we offer you practical information about:

  • Treatment
  • Program design
  • Team dynamics
  • The latest brain research and how to apply it
  • Vicarious traumatization
  • Vicarious transformation
  • More

Our mission is to translate current science and theory into practical tips that you can apply immediately in your job as a healer.

We are there with you, like an advisor sitting on your shoulder, giving you tools to deal with the complex problems you encounter every day.

You will learn practical techniques and know what to do next. Your team will receive tools and training materials to help you become a positive and effective team. We will share skills that are useful both professionally and personally.

Programs experience less turnover when workers feel competent, successful, and are an appreciated member of a cohesive team. We will help you get there!

What is Partner for Healing

Many treaters struggle to provide compassionate, thoughtful and effective help to their clients. The people we treat have been badly hurt, and demonstrate severe and scary behaviors. We are besieged with ever-increasing requirements for paperwork, planning, reporting and responding to investigations. Our resources dwindle as our rates are cut or remain the same in spite of cost inflation. We long to understand the newest research and apply it to our work, but where to find the time? Our co-workers can be a great support and source of joy, yet sometimes we are all so discouraged and we take it out on each other. We find ourselves becoming cynical and tired. What has happened to the commitment to help others that brought us into this work?

Partner for Healing is designed to help. We will be that wise adviser on your shoulder, that caring connection that provides resources and hope. Through a web site that is always available, a community of providers, and an understanding of the difficulty of the work, we will help you have tools that work and a focus on what matters.

What will Partner for Healing provide to help you in your difficult and important work?

  • Practical tips for treatment, such as interventions, treatment planning, formulation, responses when people hurt others, and suggestions for helping families;
  • Strategies for team enhancement, such as training tools, exercises, retreat suggestions, and road maps for solving team dilemmas;
  • Ideas for agency development such as hiring and training staff, being a trauma-informed administrator, the role of support staff, and imbedding attention to vicarious traumatization;
  • Information from the latest books, conferences and thinking of prominent trauma theoreticians translated into practical steps you can apply right away.

How will we provide this support?

We will have:

  • Regularly updated blog posts containing practical knowledge that you need;

Join us for the journey! Your wisdom will add to our collective ability to provide our clients the excellent care they deserve.
