PACEs Connection Reacts: The Covenant School Shooting On History. Culture. Trauma. Thursday at 1 p.m. PT

On Monday, March 27,  a shooter entered The Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, and ended the lives of three students and three school personnel.

This was an especially chilling event for PACEs Connection staff members, as three staffers live in Nashville. Each struggled with dropping their children off at school the next day.

Please join our hosts, Nashvillians Ingrid Cockhren, PACEs Connection CEO,  and Mathew Portell, director of education and outreach, as they process the tragic events of last week and how the collective impact of this event is affecting them and the city of Nashville.

Portell, a former school principal and the father of an 11 year-old son, and Cockhren, the mother of a five year-old and twin one-year-olds, will also explore how PACEs science can be utilized to address the uniquely American trauma of school shootings.

“We will tackle the right questions,” said Cockren.

“We’ll be discussing why this phenomenon is so pervasive in America, how we can prevent these tragedies, and the real impact school shootings have on communities. We’ll also discuss how communities respond, and how communities can facilitate collective healing,” she added.
