On behalf of The Gathering for Justice and Justice League NYC|CA, I would like to invite you, your youth and organization to join us for a very special youth-led event. On Wednesday, April 22, The Gathering will host a Virtual Town Hall featuring young people from across the country, Our Voice, Our Power: Building the Framework for the Beloved Community.
I’m sure you share my feelings about the uncertainty of our collective future, and for that reason and more, I hope you can join us for this critical conversation that will particularly focus on youth as leaders and advocates in their own communities addressing the ongoing challenges amidst Covid19.
Over the past few weeks, we have been part of numerous Zoom calls discussing youth issues - and we heard the call from young people needing space to speak to about the impacts of COVID19 from the lense of young people. The goal of Our Voice, Our Power is to center youth and allow for their leadership at this moment. For the past few weeks we have provided a youth cohort the time and organizing support to draft an agenda for the Town Hall, so they can inform our audience, tell their stories, and share how this pandemic has disrupted and affected their lives. The conversation will include ideas and solutions, discussions of healing and mental health, justice reform community care that is grounded in Kingian Nonviolence.
