"A $400,000 grant awarded last year allowed the non-profit to develop The Healing Path to give children and their parents the tools they need to cope with current and past traumas. OHU just started to put the organization’s first-of-its-kind program in place, said Liza Simon-Roper, an OHU supervisor....
"The Healing Path is unique for OHU because it offers counseling to both the child and parents, Simon-Roper said. There is also an eight-week parenting support group for parents.
OHU deals with clients who have been the subject of abuse, neglect or have witnessed domestic violence, Simon-Roper said. Children act out in response to these traumas in a number of ways such as slipping grades, problems paying attention or throwing a temper tantrum...."
