New Transforming Trauma BONUS Episode 122: Reflections for the New Year on Connection and Continued Growth for The NARM Training Institute with Faculty Members Brad Kammer, Stefanie Klein, and Marcia Black

It's that time of year again! On this episode of Transforming Trauma, Emily Ruth welcomes esteemed NARM faculty members Brad Kammer, Stefanie Klein, and Marcia Black to reflect on developments within the NARM training community in 2023 and offer insight into their vision for the year ahead. It's a joyful and self-aware discussion, offering a transparent assessment of the program's challenges while celebrating its hard-earned successes.

"For me, the highlight of this year was the Level 3 Masters Training," Marcia begins. "I think we really 'walked the walk' in the way that Brad and the training assistants supported the students’ [ability] to be in their own process and highlight how the NARM approach is one of mutual self-discovery." The intersubjective process that provides the foundation for deep and transformative healing of complex trauma was something they all expressed excitement about.  Watching this cohort come together was a highlight of their year and reflects the connectedness that has guided the NARM Training Institute's mentorship orientation since its inception six years ago.

Reflecting on the updates and changes coming moving forward, Stefanie shares that "It's an interesting place that we're in the process of building.”  Noting the intentionality with which NARM is expanding its global community of trauma-informed practitioners, Stefanie takes pride in "this whole structure that we've put into place, how the training teams run, and the container that we create for the students to be able to feel secure in their learning and showing up for the experiential aspects of it."  All 3 of them identify that working so closely teaching and mentoring therapists and helping professionals brings them so much joy and hope.

Of course, every organization encounters growth edges, and this leadership team is committed to facing them and learning from them. Brad thoughtfully reflects: "We've been learning on the fly for our first few years, and I think we hit a certain place last year where things started to settle, which opened up the next iteration of our process." In that spirit, the NARM Training Institute is evolving in how to best deliver their programming to the unique needs of the international NARM community.  Exciting updates and changes are on the horizon!

Transforming Trauma thanks Brad, Stefanie, and Marcia for their generosity and honesty. We share their dedication to creating a global community of emotionally attuned, trauma-informed practitioners and professionals. Happy New Year to all of our community!
