New Bill Aims to Protect Testimony of Child Sex Abuse Victims - Florida

"Tallahassee, FL-For the last four years, Lauren Book has been leading the fight against child abuse with her 'Walk in my Shoes' march. Now Book, who claims she was sexually abused for 5 years at the hands of her nanny, is pushing her support of House Bill 7031.

"The new bill  would potentially afford more protection for child sex abuse victims when it comes to testifying.

"I'm really excited about this bill. I know it's going to go a long way in protecting victims of these types of crimes," said Book.

"The proposed bill allow victims of sex abuse crimes to submit their testimony outside of the courtroom if they're under 16. Currently, the law extends the protection to only those under 11...."
