Join Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) for their weekly series of webinars events, Preventing Violent Extremism in the U.S., a part of their ongoing webinar series.

Session 1: The Way Out: How to Overcome Toxic Polarization (2:00pm-3:00pm EDT), hear from social psychologist Peter T. Coleman as he discusses ideas from his new book, The Way Out: How to Overcome Toxic Polarization. Coleman will explore how conflict resolution and complexity science provide guidance for dealing with seemingly intractable political differences and discuss principles and practices for navigating and healing the difficult divides in our homes, workplaces, and communities to better our lives, relationships, and country..

Session 2: Want Free and Fair Elections in the U.S.? It’s Not Just About Election Day (3:00pm-4:00pm EDT). Hear from panelists who will examine various initiatives that sought to prevent election violence in 2020 and discuss what more needs to be done moving forward.

America Talks is bringing together thousands of Americans for one-on-one video conversations, kicking off National Week of Conversation. The event will begin June 12 @ 1pm ET. Registration for America Talks will close at 8pm ET on Thursday, June 10th.

Two Stories of Distrust in America

Drawing on multiple national surveys conducted from July 2020 through March 2021, More in Common explores the landscape of trust in America. At a time of low overall trust levels, they highlight two distinct stories of distrust: an ideological 'us versus them' distrust and a 'social distrust' that has to do more with experiences of belonging, dignity, and equality (or lack thereof).
