COVID-19 has changed the way we live our day-to-day lives. With many experiencing uncertainties in jobs, healthcare, and support systems, navigating mental health during these times can also be stressful. As the nation struggles to adjust to a new normal in light of the COVID-19 crisis, mental health is perhaps more important than ever. During May, mental health’s value to overall wellness is highlighted as we observe Mental Health Awareness Month. It is important that we all take time for ourselves and practice self-care, so we are recommending two sources for useful ideas you might like to try or suggest to others.

A self-care routine amid COVID-19 can also help deal with the uncertain emotions that have erupted during this pandemic. Creating a sustainable self-care routine may help relieve stress and encourage emotional health. NPR published a helpful article titled “The Illustrated Guide to Showing Up for Yourself” to visually share self-care tips and exercises to help form a safe and healthy environment for yourself during quarantine.
 
Self-care is a very personal journey and can look different from one person to another; the key is to listen to yourself and do activities that bring you joy. Whether it is cooking, gardening, reading, watching TV, or helping others, realizing your de-stressors can help alleviate uncertain emotions during these times. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself.
