Mental Health & Faith Community Partnership

The Mental Health & Faith Community Partnership is a strategic partnership between the American Association of People with Disabilities through it's Interfaith Disability Advocacy Coalition, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Psychiatric Foundation. The partnership gathered over forty religious leaders and psychiatric leaders July 11, 2014 to discuss working together to reduce stigma associated with mental illness and improve community-based services and supports for individuals with mental health conditions and their families. The partnership is considering development of resources for faith leaders and psychiatrist as well as networking such persons at the local level. Psychiatric News has featured several articles on the partnership over the past year including one shortly after the July 11 meeting that provides a good summary of goals and hoped for outcomes.
