Maya Dusenbery on How Sexism in Medicine Keeps Women Sick [kqed.org]

Doctors don't take women seriously when they say they're sick, according to Maya Dusenbery. Her book, "Doing Harm," explores how systemic and unconscious biases lead to poor medical treatment for women. Dusenbery joins Forum to share her own experience of being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 27 and to discuss her ideas for alleviating sexism in health care.

Guests:

Maya Dusenbery, executive editor, Feministing; author, "Doing Harm: The Truth About How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leave Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick"
