Living beside riot zone can be confusing for kids in Ferguson [STLToday.com]

“We are trying to keep things as normal as we can,” she said. The children “know what is going on, but they don’t understand the severity of what happens when you are in a riot.”

Amanda Bequette, a social psychologist at the Missouri Institute of Mental Health, said children who see violent events often go to adults for guidance on how to react. She encouraged parents to talk with their children to reassure them they are safe.
