Life interrupted: New video resources, including 5 simple tips to practice good mental hygiene during the coronavirus outbreak [drjud.com]

We’ve all had our lives changed. While the world begins to reboot into this new reality, it is really really critical to set good mental habits instead of unhealthy ones.

As a psychiatrist now sheltering in place in Massachusetts, I’ve been putting out short (5 minute) videos every day related to what is most relevant right now. For each topic, I first start with a little science of what is going on (e.g. how anxiety + social contagion= panic) and then give simple tips that you can start practicing today.

Here are the topics from this week so far:

  • 5 simple habits for good mental hygiene
  • Using kindness to create connection during a crisis
  • Working with uncertainty
  • How to stop compulsively checking the news
  • How to spread connection instead of contagion
  • How fear + uncertainty lead to anxiety

You can view these videos as a playlist on my YouTube channel by clicking this link.

I'm also doing a weekly live Q&A "office hours" session that is open to anyone every Monday at noon eastern (US) via YouTube Live. You can join via your computer, tablet, or smartphone by going to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DrJud. You'll see a list of upcoming live streams.

Also, subscribe to the channel (click the red Subscribe button and then the notification bell) to be alerted when I post upcoming daily updates and live sessions.

If you think these would be helpful for family, friends, or others in your social network, please forward this email to them. We have to support each other during challenging times.

Onward, together!
