First State Policy Roundtable Engaged More Than 30 Leaders from Across the Country

We were thrilled to host our first in-person State Policy Roundtable in Denver last month. More than 30 state and local leaders and experts from across the country spent the day identifying strategies and discussing considerations for preventing and addressing trauma and promoting resilience across sectors.

Handle with Care: A Partnership between Law Enforcement and Educators to Mitigate the Impact of Trauma on Kids
Wednesday, October 25 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET

  • Andrea Darr, the founder of Handle With Care;
  • Becky Haas, an experienced law enforcement trainer;
  • Teri Lawler, who is leading the work in trauma-informed practices at the Delaware Department of Education; and
  • Zoe Lyons, who has implemented Handle With Care as Director of the Jackson County Office of Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services.

Speakers will share insights about how the model has become a promising cross-sector practice to support healing and prevent re-traumatization across states and communities.

New Video Explains How Awareness of ACEs Can Promote Healing

In this video, Dr. Rachel Gilgoff explains how knowledge of a patient’s Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can help health care providers better understand underlying causes of health conditions, improve patient-provider relationships, and build on patient strengths to promote healing. She also highlights strategies for reducing toxic stress and shares her vision for how Pathways to Resilience can foster cross-sector partnerships to “help people live long, healthy, and meaningful lives.”
