Stamping out Domestic Violence in Hunan - China

We introduced the first local regulation against domestic violence, which allowed procedures against domestic violence to enter the Chinese legal system. We initialed a 'zero domestic violence community' project, which is led by the government and participated in by the community."

 

University of Nottingham researchers criticise Government child abuse strategy – United Kingdom

“RESEARCHERS at the University of Nottingham are calling for changes to a government scheme to tackle child abuse.The Government has spent £10 million on a Family Nurse Partnership to engage community nurses in prevention. The study, published online by the Journal of Public Health, found that the partnership will only be able to tackle around ten per cent of families involved in mis-treatment of children….”

 

Plan to stop child sex tourism – South Africa

“South African hotels are signing up to help protect children from sex tourism and are on the lookout for suspicious guests who try to check in with underage companions…. In a move to stop South Africa becoming a child-sex tourism or trafficking destination, there were certain factors that created an environment for the exploitation of children…. Some of these realities are explained as follows: “The inflow of tourists, the ease with which people can cross (the) borders, societal beliefs that tolerate violence against women, high levels of poverty, and growing inequality since 1994 suggest that tens of thousands of children are at risk of sexual and other forms of exploitation….”

Indigenous adoption push prompts Stolen Generation fears - Australia

"Some Aboriginal advocates say they are "absolutely horrified" by a Northern Territory Government proposal to put Aboriginal children up for adoption if they are victims of extreme neglect. Chief Minister Adam Giles has advocated the plan for the adoption of Indigenous children on a case-by-case basis...."
