“…abuse at home…”

“I grew up in a really painful and violent house…”

“…having the people I was closest to be the ones who hurt me most.”

“A bigger issue was love. I had a severe lack of love…”

“I was raised— told I was worthless, told I was nothing and when you’re told you’re worthless you believe it.”

"I was either going to shoot the mall food court or my school food court but the victims were actually incidental...It wasn’t really about the people I would have shot.  The victims were intended to be my parents…  I wanted to make them deal with creating me.”

If we want to put an end to violence, working to improve the overall quality of parenting must be part of the solution.  Perhaps an entirely new kind of parenting education that reaches everyone, everywhere.
