How do we use Trauma-Informed Principles to Build Products?

Among industrialized nations, the U.S. has the highest number of homeless women and children. Research shows that approximately 92 percent of women in family homeless shelters have experienced severe physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime. Homeless shelters often lack the capacity to help their guests deal with that trauma.

There is a new movement to implement trauma-informed practices in homeless shelters to respond to this need. The Scattergood Foundation believes that to be truly bold, the physical environment of homeless shelters themselves should embody trauma-informed principles, thereby promoting safety, security and resilience among this highly vulnerable population.

Do you or someone you know have an idea for a trauma-informed product? Please, help us get the word out so that we can gather as many innovative ideas as possible!
