2021 September HOPE Newsletter

As the summer comes to an end, we reflect back on the month of August and look forward to what is ahead for the fall. In August, we all met in-person for the first time to talk about the future of HOPE and the direction of our expanding growth. HOPE also had the amazing opportunity to present at the Transforming Our Tomorrow: 2021 Prevent Child Abuse America Virtual Conference (PCAA), where the HOPE team held two presentations. We have also gained support for our future goals from the JPB Foundation renewing their HOPE funding for another two years. Looking to the fall, HOPE will be traveling virtually to Australia and Hawaii to present twelve trainings, spreading HOPE worldwide.

HOPE at the PCAA National Conference

During the week of August 9th, the HOPE team was honored to be a part of the Transforming Our Tomorrow: 2021 Prevent Child Abuse America Virtual Conference (PCAA). The team presented the HOPE framework to 140 direct service providers, managers and policymakers. Dr. Robert Sege and Loren McCullough joined Fatimah Abioye from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to present a workshop called “Family Experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Results from a survey of 9,000 U.S. parents and caregivers.” We appreciate the opportunity to present at the PCAA National Conference and the opportunity to meet with so many dedicated people around the country.

The JPB Foundation awarded Tufts Medical Center a generous, multi-year grant for our project, “Spreading HOPE: Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences.”  With two more years of funding, we plan to engage parents and communities more directly. We will also forge new partnerships, helping to spread HOPE not only throughout the country, but all over the world.

Spreading HOPE Worldwide

HOPE is spreading across the world. We have many trainings coming up over the next few months with organizations in Sydney, Australia and Hawaii. These events will range from our 1-hour HOPE 101 session to multi-day Train the Facilitator workshops and sector-specific trainings. We are very excited to be spreading HOPE beyond the continental United States.

HOPE Retreat

At the beginning of August, the HOPE team had our first in-person staff retreat! We treasured the chance to come together, discuss our work, and even meet some of our newest staff members face-to-face. Sitting at a table together for the first time, we discussed the future of HOPE and all the amazing work ahead of us. We reflected on how HOPE has grown since its development in 2019 to become an influential framework for providers, parents, and caregivers, and how this growth will inform our steps moving forward through the development of new projects and trainings.
