Heartland Alliance's Social Impact Research Center Releases Data on the Intersection of Poverty, Violence, and Trauma

On Wednesday, March 15th, the Social IMPACT Research Center will release its annual report on poverty in Illinois. This year's report will look at the relationship between trauma, poverty and violence, and the role they play in Illinois.

Cycle of Risk: The Intersection of Poverty, Violence, And Trauma, will examine how poverty and violence often intersect, feed one another, and share root causes, and the resulting trauma directly feeds back into the cycle.

We invite you to visit our website on Wednesday, March 15th, and dive into the complex and long-standing issues, data, and solutions that will be presented in this report.

I commented on another of today's posts, about the Data Center of Oakland, Ca., which did Impact Research for Social Justice, until it closed it's doors last July (2016)-after decades...It still had an active website, advising where they'd archived [some of] their [extensive, in my opinion] research products. I hope the Social Impact Research Center will avail themselves of what remains of Data Center archives...

I also had the pleasure of collaborating with Urban Information Interpreters (UII)- a project at the University of Maryland School of Library Science, before UII also 'closed its doors. They published: "Alternatives to Traditional Library Services: A Casebook" by Mary Lee Bundy, as well as a host of materials for youth. Some may have been authored by Irvin Gilchrist-who also worked at UII.
