Local parenting group helps relationships grow.

 

First in a two-part series.

 

Rooted in Relationships is a statewide program that helps Nebraska communities support the social and emotional development of children from birth through age 8.

 

Any parent with any aged child in Gothenburg and the rest of Dawson County can take a Circle of Security class (part of Rooted in Relationships) even though the information is primarily targeted for children from birth to 5 years old.

 

Rebecca Horn, a licensed mental health practitioner, facilitates Circle of Security classes. She describes the Circle of Security as a relationship-based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children.

 

Horn said rooted communities work to give parents and other caregivers chances to grow their relationships with children to help in their development.
