The first presentation will provide an overview of CDC's work in the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) to address ACEs and other forms of violence. Specifically, the presentation highlights programmatic initiatives focused on implementing evidence-based policies, programs, and practices to prevent multiple forms of violence and protect children and youth from developmental adversity. Dr. Phyllis Ottley, the Associate Chief of Program in the Prevention Practice and Translation Branch within DVP, will describe DVP's overall commitment to preventing violence before it occurs and using research and evaluation to inform prevention activities.
The second presentation will focus on NGA's ACEs Learning Collaborative, the new paper that will be released right before the call highlighting the outcomes of the learning collaborative, and the work being done with the mid-Atlantic region on ACEs- and trauma-related issues. Dr. Shelby Hockenberry - Program Director of Healthcare Delivery at National Governors Association - will lead off by discussing NGA's role in the learning collaborative, and Chidi Jenkins - Advisor on Childhood Trauma and Resiliency in Governor Ralph Northam's Office - will discuss Virginia's role in the learning collaborative and the regional work on ACEs, trauma, and resilience.
Please join us and share the call with those in your network who may be interested! All are welcome to attend.
