Crucial Concepts in Trauma-Informed Care

In March, the Partner for Healing blog covered several crucial concepts in trauma-informed care. Use any of these posts to start an in-depth discussion with your team! The first post looked at The Primacy of Safety.  Nothing good can happen when the child does not feel safe. . So how can we create and measure safety? This post includes free sample client and family safety questionnaires. Then we moved on to effective action, in Trauma Steals the Ability to Act- Do We Make It Better or Worse? In our treatment programs, do we teach the child the essential skills of taking action and developing a voice? Or do we unwittingly replicate this sense of powerlessness by prioritizing rules, offering no choices, and punishing the child who wants change? Our next concept was gratitude- Why Aren’t These Kids Grateful? We looked and the meaning of and conditions for gratitude. Then we considered stamina. The most important thing we can do is to keep these kids- so should we pay more attention to How to Increase Team Stamina? Finally, we looked at how we are affected by the system around us, in Trauma-Informed Care and Inadequate Resources.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on these concepts. Come over to Partner for Healing, join our community, and post your comments. See you there!
