"Below are reflections and highlights of a workshop on Trauma Informed Care that several SAFE Advocates recently attended!

"Thanks to the generosity of the Office on Women’s Health, three other advocates and I received the privilege of attending a recent training in Philadelphia on how to take a trauma-informed approach to our work. Because our clients are survivors of trauma–otherwise they wouldn’t need our help!–we as advocates should make sure we understand how trauma affects the body, mind and spirit. That background knowledge combined with concrete strategies to address the manifestations of trauma will make SAFE’s offices feel more welcoming, understanding and…well, safe!..."
