Community Resiliency to be discussed on "Breaking the Silence with Dr. Gregory Williams" this Sunday Evening

 

This Sunday evening's "Breaking the Silence with Dr. Gregory Williams" Radio Show LIVE at 8:00 pm CST will be discussing the importance of Community Resiliency and how the Community Resiliency Model is helping people who have suffered from the traumatic experiences in their lives.

The special guests on the show this Sunday night will be Elaine Miller-Karas and Kelly Doty.  

Elaine is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Trauma Resource Institute and author of the book, Building Resiliency to Trauma, the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models® (2015).   She has worked internationally to bring healing to the world’s community.  Her models to date have been brought to 102 countries in Asia, Africa, North America, the Mid-East, South America and Europe.  She is a recognized international speaker and author and has presented the Community Resiliency Model at the Skoll World Forum and the United Nations. Elaine’s book was recently selected by the United Nations curated on-line library as one of the innovations that can help meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Elaine is a founding member of the International Transformational Resilience Coalition and a leading advocate with regard to the impact of climate change on the human condition. She is a Senior Consultant to Emory University’s SEE Learning program, inspired by and launched by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, India in April 2019. Elaine contributed to the trauma-informed and resiliency-informed chapter (Chapter 2) in this curriculum, which is based upon the Community Resiliency Model.  She is also on faculty at Loma Linda University’s School of Social Work.

Kelly Doty is a Program Manager for the Strengthening Families Program at Youth for Change in Butte County and an adjunct faculty in the Education, Child and Family Studies department. She is very passionate about creating the best possible lives for children and their families. She has two sons and her world revolves around them. Kelly has survived the Camp Fire in 2018 and believes that resiliency and having a positive outlook is the way forward. She believes that when we model calmness and resiliency, it spreads hope with each interaction.

Together they will be sharing their wonderful story of the importance of resiliency and Kelly will be sharing how important resiliency was in her life and the impact that it has made.
