Come ALIVE Movement Zambia 2022 ANNUAL REPORT

Greetings Everyone!

Jabu here! Founder of Come ALIVE Movement.

I hope this report finds you in good health, both in body and mind. Thank you so very much to everyone who encouraged, supported, enquired, and even critiqued the efforts made by the organization this last year. Every's input is greatly valued!

Background

Let me begin by sharing what Come ALIVE Movement is all about and give a bit of background:

Come ALIVE Movement was initially created to bring healing to survivors of Sexual Abuse. But as I got more and more into the Counseling space, I realized God was calling me to so much more. There were so many other areas of dire need like Marriages, teenagers, purpose and goal setting issues. And so since inception, the organization has evolved to now accommodate all Mental Health issues. I too have equally been pursuing further studies in Psychology and Christian counseling, in order to serve our clients better.

Come ALIVE Movement was born in 2016, just before I graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center Zambia. I’d been asking the Lord what the next steps for my life were after graduation, and it seemed clear to me that He wanted me to take the gifts of Encouragement and Words of Wisdom and establish a Non-Governmental Organization, in order to reach more people.

Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • Adult and Child Psychosocial/Christian Counseling
  • Group and Individual Recovery Programs
  • Leadership Development Programs
  • Personal Life Coaching
  • Mentorship
  • Corporate Mental Health Packages.

At the moment, all these services are only offered online because we don't have offices yet. But this has proved advantageous to us, as we have been able to reach people from different parts of the world! It has been an exciting journey!

Recent Activities

Last year, the organization ventured into a number of new activities:

  1. Attach a minimum charge to the counseling services in order to aid with the volunteers’ personal expenses
  2. Participate in the 16 days of Activism Against Gender based violence
  3. Partner with an orphanage for children with disabilities to help raise support for them.

Resultsof Activities:

  1. Attaching a charge to the counseling services has yielded positive results. Since about June last year when we introduced the charge, we’ve had 11 new individual paying clients. This is a very minimal contribution towards the volunteers’ livelihood, but its a very good start.
  2. From our social media sensitization campaigns during the 16 Days of Activism, we got a number of conversations going with different people about Gender Based Violence. We intend to do even more this year.
  3. The Christmas Donations campaign we ran got a number of peoples attention. Unfortunately, many didn't manage to make any donations, except one couple. Many of them mentioned that the campaign had started a bit late, after they had already made their donations to other organizations. We intend to start the campaign earlier this year.

We handed over the k1,000 raised, to the orphanage on the 31st of January.

Hopefully this year we can raise a bit more for the children, as their needs are quite numerous and dire.

Future Plans

We are quite ambitious with our plans:

  1. Establish a “safe house” for survivors of any form of abuse, that have nowhere to go. We have come across a number of such cases.
  2. Run sensitisation campaigns for all forms of abuse all over the country.
  3. Establish “Mental Health Awareness Clubs” in Secondary and Primary schools, to help children be aware of their emotions and how to handle difficult situations.

Once again, thank you for the support rendered. We look forward to your continued support.

Kind regards

Jabulile Daka
