Watching this movie with co-workers reminded us how important it is to have a safe space to debrief and connect.  Public health nurses walk alongside women, children and families as they work to stabilize their families.  Vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, etc are surprisingly common.  Self care and safe places can be good antidotes to daily exposure to traumatized families. 

The introduction in a book I read noted they took a survey before publication, and 85% of the Bachelor degreed members of the California Nurses Association admitted to growing up in an 'alcoholic household'. I believe the book was titled: "Caregiver, Caretaker: From Dysfunctional to Authentic Nursing Service". I don't recall any other ACE criteria being noted.
